WG 223 Introduction to Gay & Lesbian Studies

(SEE also SCHEDULE AND REQUIREMENTS)

Paper #1,
due March 11
Apply some methods of queer theory to a work or topic of your choice.
Paper/Project #2,
due April 8
Choose a topic from history not covered in class and write a brief overview of what we know about it. You may choose either an issue or period from US history outside of the scope of the texts we read or write about another culture. Be sure to find some sources other than the internet! How does your topic relate to the issues covered in class? Are there parallels? differences? debates?
Paper #3,
due May 8
You may either write a critical paper on one of the works we have seen or read OR produce a creative queer work of your own. Genre open, but it must be relevant to the course.

  • All papers 5 pages.
  • Web-projects will be acceptable, but they must show the same amount of intellectual work as would go into a written paper!
  • All papers will be presented in class the day they are due!
