AC 200
ELECTRONIC DISCUSSION

MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE
Department of American Literature and Civilization

Using the Electronic Conference for AC 200:

To use web-based conferencing to discuss topics outside of class, you will need to learn how to read other submissions to the conference and how to submit your own posting. We will use Motet on the web as an environment for our electronic discussions. Once you press Go To Discussion, Motet will open into a new window and you will be asked for your username and password.

It is strongly recommended that the first time you use Motet that you click on the Help button and take the 10 minute Tutorial.

The following is a quick set of instructions on how to use the conferencing system. Once you have logged on, you can follow

this basic procedure to use Motet:

1. Press the button to see your personalized list of conferences.

2. Choose the AC200 (?) conference by clicking on the link.

3. Press List all topics to see available topics.

4. From the list of topics, click on your group's discussion (e.g.

#1. Group #1 discussion)

5. Press Read postings to view discussion questions and the discussion itself.

6. Fill in the white box at the bottom of the page with your own posting on the topic.

Press to send your message.

7. At this point, you can press:

View postings to see what you've just posted.

OR

Return to this topic homepage to read all the postings (step 5.)

OR

to leave the system.

Now, Go To Discussion.

NOTE:

You should always press at the end of your Motet session, so that other people can not access your Motet account and make postings in your name.
